This year, one of my personal goals is to give. Give.
It is a lot harder than the little word lets on...Things come up and get in the way...
And life is busy...
And then I look back and a year is gone. Gone, and I haven't really given anything.
Sure, I always have big plans. I say a lot of prayers, hoping God gives me the opportunities to give to others. Meanwhile, I'm just wasting time. Time moves fast...And there is no better time than now.
Seek opportunities, friends.
They are everywhere.
You all have given much to me this year-- new friendships. A great home business that I truly love. The encouragement to push through the days when I feel like a failure. And daily-- your sweet messages and kind words-- they are uplifting and remind me that people are beautiful and loving and gracious.
So, I'd love to join together and give to a great cause.
Next week, I will have two digis available. They will be free downloads (EDIT: FIND THEM IN THIS POST:). There will be a donate link where you can, instead of purchasing the digis for $4.00 each, give what you can to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. I will collect the money for one month, and at the end, donate the entire amount collected from these two digis to the hospital. I am also in the process of being approved for an event at the hospital...so there may be an opportunity in the near future to send me Christmas cards to bring to the children and families this coming holiday season.

I try to give too, I support the charity over here that raises and supports one of the conditions I have. But yeah I reckon it's important to do as much as we can each day. Giving, for me, can be about writing a comment, making someone smile, that never fails to warm my heart when I see that smile. Take care Zo xx

I was just talking about St. Jude the other day! Very cute image! I can't wait to get her. I also try to give. I usually tend to give things I've made for a good cause, like hats and scarves to the schools, veterans, and cancer treatment center. Someday I hope to do more though.

This is such a great idea. My step-daughter has been in the hospital over about 5 weeks now and have no idea when she will be getting out. I appreciate people you are willing to help bring some relief to these kids and their families, even if it's just getting them to smile for a few minutes. I'll be looking forward to the digis and to donating! :)

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about 'intentions' but time flies away from us and life gets in the way. Here in the UK we have a scheme that allows you to donate direct from your salary to a charity(ies) of your choice. I decided to do that for 3 charities that are very dear to me and I know that they are getting a regular donation.

I've been on your same brain wave since 2 days ago--the local Food Bank is almost bare and I told my hubby that we need to go to the local grocery store (Publix), which has BOGO items every week, and buy enough for 50 people for supper. I wanted to do that a while back and life got away from me...it just won't slow down, but people still go hungry. So you have motivated me to take charge of my thoughts, and this time I will follow through with them. Can't wait for your freebies--count me in to donate to St. Judes--a very worthy cause.

Krista, this is an awesome idea. There is nothing more rewarding than"giving" to others.I was actually on my way to New Mexico several years ago and made an unexpected stop at Children's Hospital. I was so blown away by it and the amount of people that stopped at the hospital. There was a group of motorcycle people in front of us on the highway that prevented us from passing them that went to the hospital with a HUGH check for the children. When they got there, they took the children for rides in the parking lot. I was so overwhelmed that it took 3 days for me to function properly. Seeing all those little children that were bald and going through such agony and still having smiles on their little faces was more than I could handle. I actually was already a giver to the hospital but writing a check every month was way different than actually seeing all those little children. It actually changed my life.... I will never get that image out of my mind..Never. Thank you so much for doing this.....

ReplyDeleteI think you always give hun, you give us so many hours of happy colouring which is a much needed form of relaxation. I know I for one am incapable of sitting & doing nothing even when I am suffering from horrible shoulder pain and need to rest I still have to do something so to spend some time resting and colouring is just perfect for me and stops me going stir-crazy lol.
